674 new cases of cholera , including 13 deaths, 28 cases of dengue fever in a week

The Federal Emergency Operations Center held its weekly meeting today, Tuesday, in its hall at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Health in Khartoum, reviewing the health situation in the country due to epidemics during the 27th week of July 5-11. The meeting revealed that 674 new cases of cholera, including 13 deaths, were recorded from 33 localities in 12 states, bringing the cumulative number of infections to 87,762, including 2,264 deaths from 111 localities in 17 states.
The epidemiological situation report on dengue fever confirmed the registration of 28 infections in a week, all of them from Khartoum state, which requires rapid intervention.
Regarding measles cases, the report noted 68 cases, with no deaths, from 18 localities in 7 states.
Meanwhile, the cumulative cases of heat stroke reached 13 injuries, including 3 deaths, from the Red Sea and Northern states, starting from week 19.
The Environmental Health and Food Control Report announced the implementation of many activities, including in the field of water health and safety, reading 1266 sources within the network, of the target 1514 sources, and in environmental sanitation, transporting and treating 19409 waste, out of the target 22765, by 85% from 9 states.
While the health promotion report noted the training of 70 health promoters in two localities in Kassala state, and the implementation of home visits by 80% in the northern states, Gezira, River Nile, and White Nile.
The supply report pointed to the disparity in the abundance of medicines and epidemiology consumables in the supply fund stores in the states, and solutions.
The quarantine report confirmed the arrival of 16,555 people through the various ports of entry, within a week, while 9,978 people left, adding that the voluntary returnees from Egypt 10,175 people within a week, and from the State of South Sudan cumulatively 7,800 people.
The meeting also listened to GIS reports, autumn emergencies, and the situation in Khartoum and the Blue Nile region, as well as support from global health and UNICEF.
The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohammad Ibrahim, said that the challenges are still present and the need is great despite the implemented interventions, directing to focus on the fall and its emergencies, and holding a meeting for the higher coordination of the fall, with the activation of emergency rooms in the states by issuing a circular to that effect, which comes in line with the directives of the Prime Minister.
