Resumption of Operations at Al-Huda Correctional Facility

Al-Huda Correctional Facility, west of Omdurman, officially resumed operations, following the appointment of Police Major General Moatasem Abdel Fattah as director of the facility. This step marks the beginning of the resumption of correctional and institutional work in the country.
Major General Moatasem affirmed that all maintenance and rehabilitation work undertaken at the facility during the recent period has been successfully completed, stressing that the facility is now fully prepared to receive inmates, in accordance with the latest international standards adopted in the field of penal and correctional institutions.
Al-Huda Correctional Facility is one of the largest correctional facilities in Sudan.
It was designed according to a sophisticated architectural style that adheres to the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Inmates. The facility includes integrated facilities with a capacity of more than 6,000 inmates, in addition to large agricultural areas designed to support training, production, and reform programs.
This development comes within the framework of a comprehensive plan adopted by the Prison Forces Presidency to improve the correctional work environment and achieve standards of justice and social reform.
