Health Minister Receives Ambassador of Sudan to India

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, received in his quarantine office in Port Sudan, Ambassador Mohamed Abdullah Al-Tom, Ambassador of Sudan to India, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries and working to move joint files through an agreement that supports health projects.

The Minister welcomed the ambassador, stressing that the meeting discussed ways to conclude an agreement in the fields of providing medical and therapeutic services and importing medicines, saying that the import rate is 50% from India, adding : “We seek to support the pharmaceutical industry and the establishment of joint factories, and work to facilitate procedures for Sudanese doctors to obtain training opportunities, and work to exchange experiences in the field of primary health care and universal health coverage.”

Haitham pointed to holding meetings with the Chargé d’Affaires of the State of India in Sudan, thanking the Indian government for providing 50 tons as a grant during the previous period, pointing to the arrival of an Indian grant for health during the coming period, calling for the need for a medical consultant at the Sudanese embassy in India.

Ambassador Mohammed Abdullah Al-Tom stressed the provision of all support to the health sector in the country.
