Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Arab League delegation hold joint sessions

At the beginning of the visit of Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General, of the Arab League, to Sudan, an official talk session was held today between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Arab League, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ali Youssef, and His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the Secretary-General and the General Secretariat of the Arab League for their strong and clear position in supporting Sudan as it fights the war of national dignity against the rebel RSF militia, its mercenaries and its regional supporters.

While the Secretary-General renewed the position of the General Secretariat in support of Sudan’s safety, sovereignty and territorial integrity against foreign interference, and in support of the national state institutions and their right to maintain national security.
The Secretary-General affirmed the firmness of the League’s position with Sudan until it overcomes its current crisis.
The Minister explained the current priorities of the Government of Sudan, which are to achieve security and stability in all parts of Sudan, and to continue implementing humanitarian response plans.
He noted the role of the Arab League in supporting national efforts to address the current humanitarian situation by mobilizing regional and international support, as well as its hoped-for role in the coming period in supporting development cooperation and reconstruction projects, and urging regional and international partners to contribute in this regard.

The discussions touched on the vital role of the General Secretariat and the institutions of the Arab League in supporting the issues of the Arab nation, preserving the unity of the Arab ranks and addressing differences within them, and activating joint Arab action at all levels, especially with regard to the food security initiative and human resources development issues.

The session also addressed Arab issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, and reaffirmed the firm position that stems from the constants of the Arab consensus and the Arab Peace Initiative aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the issue that guarantees the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza and the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon were also emphasized.
It is noteworthy that the Secretary-General of the Arab League arrived in the country today on an official two-day visit.
