Jaber meets with the Head of the ICRC delegation

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, renewed Sudan’s commitment to its firm position towards facilitating humanitarian aid procedures and enabling international organizations and agencies to carry out their tasks without compromising national sovereignty.
This came during his meeting today in Port Sudan with the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation, Daniel O’Malley.
His Excellency stressed the Sudanese government’s readiness to raise levels of cooperation and coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross in the areas of strengthening international humanitarian law and developing factors that help the International Committee to fulfill its mandate regarding helping Sudanese affected by the war.
For his part, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross described the meeting as successful and fruitful, considering how to develop stronger coordination of efforts regarding work in areas such as strengthening international humanitarian law and how to facilitate the work so that the International Civil Service Commission can upgrade its humanitarian mandate in Sudan, and be able to support all Sudanese affected by the ongoing war, stressing the importance coordination in the framework of continuous participation and exchange of information with the Sudanese authorities on how the Commission works so that it is able to provide the required humanitarian support to the Sudanese, in addition to emphasizing the role that the International Civil Service Commission can play as a neutral mediator, in terms of facilitating certain operations.
In addition, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Sudan confirmed his support for those directly affected by the conflict, and expressed his thanks to the Sudanese government and Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, indicating that he looks forward to continuing consultations in order to reach solutions to the various challenges.
