Al-Burhan approves a limited ministerial reshuffle

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander of the Sudanese Army, 1st. Lt. General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, on Sunday, carried out a limited ministerial reshuffle by ending the assignment of four ministers and appointing others.

According to a press circular issued by the Sovereignty Council, Al-Burhan issued a decision approving the decisions of the Transitional Council of Ministers, which included ending the assignment of Ambassador Hussein Awad from the duties of Minister of Foreign Affairs, and assigning Ambassador Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif.

It is worth noting that the new minister, Ali Youssef, held several positions in the Sudanese Foreign Ministry before being referred to retirement, and he also headed the Arab-Chinese Friendship Associations, and was active within the Committee of the Wise to resolve the crisis that followed the October 25, 2021 coup.

The ministerial reshuffle included ending the assignment of Dr. Graham Abdul Qader from the duties of Minister of Culture and Information, and assigning Khaled Al-Aiser to the position.

Al-Aiser, who resides in London, is considered one of the most prominent supporters of the army in its confrontation with the Rapid Support Forces.

As part of the ministerial reshuffle, Osama Hassan Muhammad Ahmed was also terminated from the duties of Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, and Omar Bakhit Muhammad Adam was assigned.

Al-Burhan also issued a decision to assign Omar Ahmed Muhammad Ali to the duties of Minister of Trade and Supply.

Al-Burhan had dismissed former Minister of Trade Al-Fateh Abdullah Youssef last July, and assigned the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Mahasin Ali Yaqoub, to the duties of the ministry temporarily.
