SFPA (River Nile) reveals rape cases with psychological trauma after the outbreak of war

Director of the Reproductive Health Department at the Primary Health Care Department at the Ministry of Health in River Nile state, Salma Habib, affirmed that the next phase will witness more workshops in partnership with the United Nations Fund to enhance the reproductive health program.
She said in the opening session (Clinical Treatment Workshop for Rape) organized by the Sudanese Family Planning Association (SFPA) in River Nile State with the support of the United Nations Population Fund that the SFPA in River Nile State represents a real addition to reproductive health during emergency situations and that there is a plan to enhance reproductive health in the localities.

For her part, the Executive Director of the SFPA in River Nile State, Ms. Kawthar Mohamed Ibrahim, said that the workshop aims to combat gender-based violence and that rape cases were silenced in society as a social stigma in the past, and now the association receives rape cases with severe psychological trauma after the outbreak of war and conflicts in the country.

She praised the Ministry of Health and the United Nations Fund for their support to enhance and train the skills of health cadres in the health field.
She considered rape a crime that requires the provision of psychological counseling and laws due to its impact on reproductive health.
