WHO funds SFPA to support Sudanese hospitals to ensure continuity of life-saving services

The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Sudan Family Planning Association (SFPA), is providing critical support to hospitals across Sudan in response to the escalating humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing conflict since April 2023. This partnership is focused on ensuring the continuity of life-saving healthcare services, particularly in hospitals severely impacted by the conflict.

We are pleased to announce the commencement of the first phase of our joint initiative with WHO to support key hospitals in six states: Khartoum, Sennar, White Nile, Blue Nile, North Darfur, and South Darfur. This phase will involve the rehabilitation of 10 hospitals and health centers, and will focus on four main components:

Operational Support: Covering essential operating costs to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
Supplies and Equipment: Providing critical medical supplies and equipment necessary for effective care.
Human Resources: Strengthening healthcare staffing to meet the increased demand for services.
Medicines: Ensuring a steady supply of essential medicines for patients.
Additionally, the initiative places a strong emphasis on protecting women and children from sexual exploitation and abuse, as well as ensuring that survivors of violence have access to comprehensive healthcare services. This initiative aims to enhance the healthcare infrastructure, improve working conditions for medical staff, and ensure vital healthcare services for displaced populations and affected communities.
