Syrian Foreign Ministry Appreciates Support of Government and People of Sudan

The Syrian Foreign Minister has expressed his deep appreciation and thanks to the Sudanese government and people and to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the fraternal and humanitarian initiative towards the Syrian people.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq Ali, received a written message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Faisal Megdad, in response to the cable of condolences for the victims of the earthquake that struck Syria on November 6, 2023.

Dr. Megdad, via the written message, explained that his country has been subjected for more than eleven years to unfair unilateral measures and sanctions that have greatly harmed the economic and living situation.

He reported in the message that the devastating earthquake increased the suffering of the Syrian people, pointing out that sanctions and coercive measures are unacceptable, especially under these circumstances.

It is worth mentioning that the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq, has sent a written message to his Syrian counterpart, in which he expressed sympathy and full solidarity with the Syrian government and people and wished mercy for the victims of the earthquake and speedy recovery for the injured.
