Scientific Conference of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Association to Start on Wednesday
The Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology announced the launch of the 32nd Scientific Conference of the association on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:00 p.m. until Saturday, February 25, at the Police Club in Khartoum, under the motto (Training in specialization of obstetrics and gynecology – the past, present, and future).
The Consultant of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Scientific Secretary of the Association, Dr. Mustafa Farouk, said at a press conference Monday afternoon at the news forum of Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that the conference will witness active participation from inside and Sudan and abroad from the British Royal Association, the Arab Association of the Union of Women and Obstetrics, the African Union of African Women and Obstetrics Associations, and a group of specialists from Britain, Ireland, Kuwait, Qatar, Somalia and several national pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment companies.
He indicated that the scientific program will include 20 workshops and more than 80 scientific papers dealing with various topics on the specialization of gynecology and obstetrics, in addition to training workshops.
On his part, the general coordinator of the training workshops, Dr. Siddiq Omer Bansika, said that the Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology is giving great concern to the health of mothers and children, and it believes that the training of cadres of obstetricians, gynecologists, nurses and midwives is the basis for reducing the maternal and child mortality.
Dr. Sami Mahmoud, the Secretary General of the Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology, explained that the maternal mortality rate in Sudan is one of the highest in the world, as its causes are due to postpartum hemorrhage, the high blood pressure of pregnant women, the infections, hepatitis and the strokes.
He added that they in the association, with the help of the Federal Ministry of Health and national and international partners, are working to reduce the maternal and child mortality rates, by qualifying the medical personnel.
It is worth noting that the Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Association was established in 1972 and is one of the largest academic scientific associations in Sudan, as it includes more than 2000 specialists and consultants in obstetrics and gynecology who are spread in most parts of Sudan, and includes as members more than 2000 specialists and consultants abroad distributed in the Gulf countries, Europe and the United States.
