RSF Group 15 Commander Announces Defection and Pledges Allegiance to Sudanese Armed Forces

Major General Sadiq Mohammed Abdulrahman Ander, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) mobilisation and recruitment official, commander of Group 15 within the militia, and head of the Sudan Liberation Forces for Reform and Development, has announced his complete defection from the RSF and severance of all ties with the militia, calling on his forces and fellow fighters to immediately join Sudan’s legitimate institutions, the Sudanese Armed Forces.
In a video statement, Ander said that when the war broke out on April 15, 2023, he initially believed he was fighting for a united and equal Sudan, where marginalisation would end and the rule of law would prevail regardless of tribe, colour or belief.
However, he said he later realised that he had been serving what he described as a purely family-driven project, controlled by Hemeti’s relatives, who exercised authority over money, weapons, fighters’ movements and the allocation of military ranks.
Ander said that anyone who speaks out against this project or refuses to be merely an instrument in its implementation faces exclusion, imprisonment or death.
He further alleged that the Dagalo family project receives external support in the form of funding, weapons and drones, in addition to tens of thousands of mercenaries from African countries and elsewhere.
“We can no longer accept being just a cog in the machinery of this project,” he said.
In a three-point statement, Ander first declared his complete defection from the RSF militia and withdrawal from the Tasis alliance, urging everyone with a conscience and genuine concern for Sudan to defect immediately and return to the country’s legitimate institutions.
Second, he affirmed his support for the Sudanese people and the Sudanese Armed Forces, declaring his readiness to come under their command and leadership.
Third, he stressed his commitment to reform and to preserving Sudan’s unity, both its territory and its people.
“Sudan is greater than any family and any external project,” Ander said, declaring that he was returning to the right path.
