Disagreements escalate within the so-called Sumud Alliance

Differences escalate between two leaders of the so-called Sumud Alliance, namely Yasser Arman and Taha Osman Ishaq.

Each side seeks to control women’s groups and resistance committees.

Yasser Arman seeks to control decision-making by including groups with specific demands, such as refugees and internally displaced persons, within the Alliance..

It is to be noted that the Alliance is facing divergent viewpoints and differing political and organizational visions among some of its constituent groups regarding the management of various issues and their stance on international initiatives for a solution. Differences sometimes emerge in assessing situations and variations in political and intellectual frameworks among the forces comprising the alliance. Relationship with mechanisms and mediations: Organizational and political positions have varied regarding some regional and international meetings and consultations (such as the consultations of the (Quintet Mechanism), amidst discussions about the conditions of participation and representation.
