Abu Halima Social Center Rehabilitation Marks a New Phase of Community Development in Khartoum State

The Acting Minister of Social Development in Khartoum State, Sediq Hassan Ferini, has affirmed that his inspection visit to the Abu Halima Social Center in Bahri Locality marks the practical launch of a comprehensive rehabilitation and operational plan aimed at restoring the center to its full productive and service capacity after it sustained extensive and deliberate destruction.
Addressing an awareness meeting attended by social development leaders, Ferini stressed that the current phase requires continuous and serious work without interruption.
He emphasized the importance of joint efforts by government institutions and local communities to revive the center and transform it into a developmental and economic hub serving the people of Khartoum State, particularly residents of Bahri and the surrounding villages.
The minister revealed that the ministry has developed an integrated strategic plan to maximize the use of the center’s facilities and buildings through partnerships with the Khartoum State Graduates Employment Agency, the private sector, and voluntary organizations.
He also announced the launch of vocational training programs for women, graduates, and interested members of the local community, noting that rehabilitation work will proceed using available funding sources and that small-scale producers will soon resume their activities.
During the visit, Ferini inspected ongoing rehabilitation work on the buildings and public facilities, as well as the planting of fruit and shade trees, signaling the center’s gradual return to operation. He announced that the center is expected to be officially inaugurated soon in the presence of the State Governor and senior government officials.
Meanwhile, Emtenan Osman Khamis, Director of the Social Development and Poverty Reduction Department, presented a report outlining the ongoing preparations and field studies that preceded the project. She reviewed the coordination efforts with partner organizations and supporting institutions to remove the effects of destruction and restore services at the center, which serves a densely populated area.
In the same context, Al-Harith Ismail Ali, Head of the Khartoum State Graduates Employment Agency and representative of the center’s steering committee, expressed appreciation for the minister’s field visit.
He reaffirmed the readiness of the local community to mobilize all available resources in support of the ministry’s programs and the agency’s initiatives to restore the Abu Halima Social Center to an even better condition than before.
He also announced that local youth volunteers will organize a community campaign to help rehabilitate the center.
