Sudan and Saudi Arabia Prepare to Sign Historic Agreement

Foreign Minister, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, praised the strength of Sudanese-Saudi relations, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia represents a strategic partner for the country. He expressed his appreciation for its leadership and its role in promoting regional security and stability.

The Minister affirmed that any attack targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also targets Sudan, stressing the shared destiny and common interests that unite Sudan with the Kingdom and the Arab states.

In a televised interview, Salem revealed that Sudan and Saudi Arabia will sign an agreement next month to establish the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation and Coordination, describing this step as a qualitative leap in the course of bilateral relations. He explained that Sudan looks forward to a deeper strategic partnership with the Kingdom through this Council, which will form an institutional framework for coordinating visions and expanding areas of cooperation, thus strengthening bilateral relations and propelling them towards broader strategic horizons. He indicated that the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation and Coordination will bring significant gains to both countries and will support joint Arab action by providing broad opportunities to enhance cooperation in various sectors and achieve common interests.

In a related context, the Foreign Minister praised the supportive stances of brotherly nations towards Sudan, foremost among them Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, and the Sultanate of Oman, along with several other countries. He emphasized that encouraging investment is a cornerstone for supporting Sudan’s development and reconstruction efforts.

It is worth noting that Head of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, held negotiations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Makkah on March 28, 2025. During those talks, they agreed to establish a coordination council to enhance bilateral relations across various fields.
