Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation Heads Sudanese Delegation to the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva

The Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, Engineer Ahmed Dardiri Ghandour, arrived in Geneva yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), heading the Sudanese delegation participating in the World Summit on the Information Society, held in Geneva from July 6-10.

The importance of Sudan’s participation stems from the systematic targeting and significant damage inflicted on the information and communications sector by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia. The participation also aims to strengthen Sudan’s presence in international forums concerned with digital transformation and communications, and to expand cooperation with international organizations and partners in this field.

A statement issued by the Sudanese Mission in Geneva indicated that the Permanent Representative, Ambassador Hassan Hamid Hassan, and members of the mission were also present. They welcomed the minister, who is scheduled to participate in several ministerial sessions and high-level dialogue events, in addition to holding a number of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations and representatives of international organizations in Geneva.
