Member of the Sovereignty Council Stresses Importance of Combating Smuggling to Protect the Economy and Society

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Nuwara Abu Muhammad Muhammad Tahir, stressed the necessity of combating the smuggling of drugs, gold, and prohibited goods, with the aim of maximizing revenues and protecting the national economy and society.

During her meeting today, Wednesday, with the Director General of Customs Forces, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Dr. Nuwara affirmed the state’s support for the efforts of the Customs Forces and its commitment to providing them with the necessary resources and mechanisms to enable them to fulfill their required role in the coming phase, in coordination with relevant authorities.

For his part, the Director General of Customs Forces explained in a press statement following the meeting that he briefed the Sovereignty Council member on the performance of the Customs Forces during the past period, particularly in the areas of training, capacity building, and social responsibility, which Customs demonstrated through the provision of humanitarian and medical convoys to camps and hospitals.

Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim affirmed the readiness of the Customs Forces to play their role in combating smuggling, increasing revenues, and supporting the national economy during the next phase.
