Launch of Training Course on Using Artificial Intelligence to Improve Work Quality

A five-day training course on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance institutional performance and improve work quality was launched this morning at the Nutrition Hall of the Federal Ministry of Health headquarters in Khartoum. The course is organized by the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Department of the General Directorate of Primary Health Care.
Speaking at the opening session, Ms. Taysir Al-Sadiq, Director of the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Department, emphasized that AI is a tool for improving performance rather than replacing human expertise. She stressed the importance of accuracy, quality, and continuous review in using AI.
She described the training as a qualitative step forward for Primary Health Care, enabling faster and more accurate data analysis, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and contributing to the achievement of health care objectives. She added that the initiative comes as part of the digital transformation agenda led by the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim.
Al-Sadiq further noted that promoting a culture of AI within the institution will strengthen data management and improve efficiency and effectiveness across operations.
Meanwhile, Amal Al-Samani, Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Section, stated that the effective use of AI can significantly enhance institutional performance, provided that proper monitoring, evaluation, and precise prompting are applied. She encouraged participants from the Monitoring and Evaluation teams of the General Directorate of Primary Health Care to make full use of the training, exchange experiences, and apply the acquired knowledge to improve and refine their work.
On the first day, the opening session, led by trainer Dr. Al-Tayeb Gureib Allah, included a pre-training assessment, an introduction to Artificial Intelligence, AI ethics and data privacy concerns, AI fundamentals and everyday applications.
The second session focused on practical exercises based on real daily tasks, including data standardization, the concept of an indicator dictionary, and a hands-on exercise on converting an evaluation form into an XLSForm for use with the KoboCollect application.
