IDPs of Dilling and Kadugli

The practices and harassment perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and affiliated militias in and around the areas they control have created a dire situation for civilians and residents, leading to a humanitarian catastrophe that is difficult to address at present.

The displaced people returning from Kadugli and Dilling continue to suffer greatly as a result of the actions of Abdul Aziz al-Hilu’s forces.

The effects of this suffering are evident among those who have reached Kosti and Khartoum after the grave violations they endured at the hands of al-Hilu’s forces in Nuba Mountains, particularly following the killing of Father John after he called for al-Hilu’s removal from the leadership of the rebel movement against the citizens and the state.

The sieges imposed by rebel militias on civilians in villages in Darfur and South Kordofan, along with the ethnic cleansing operations, constitute a full-fledged war crime. International human rights organizations must take action to stop these practices and add them to the militias’ already dark record, which has repeatedly demonstrated the same brutality in El Geneina in West Darfur, El Fasher in North Darfur, and the areas of Wad Noura and Al-Seriha in Gezira State.

Now is the opportune moment for human rights organizations to gather testimonies from witnesses who were forced to flee militia-controlled areas to safer regions. The arrival of these organizations’ teams in the displaced persons camps in Kosti, Khartoum, or the Al-Afad camp in Northern State will enable them to prepare credible reports on the militias’ violations against civilians, as Amnesty International did when it issued a comprehensive report on the violations in El Fasher.
