Federal Ministry of Health Launches Urology and Gastrointestinal Surgery Camp at Omdurman Teaching Hospital
Omdurman – The Acting Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Montaser Mohamed Osman, inaugurated a Urology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Camp at Omdurman Teaching Hospital.
The initiative is being implemented under the supervision of the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, with support from the Qatar Red Crescent, the Kuwait Patients Helping Fund, Hamad Medical Corporation, and the Sudanese Doctors Association in Qatar, in the presence of a representative of the World Health Organization.
Dr. Montaser praised the contributions of Sudanese doctors in Qatar since 2020, noting that they were among the first to support Sudan’s health sector at the onset of the war. He also commended the Qatar Red Crescent and the Kuwaiti partners for helping bridge critical healthcare gaps and support disease vector control efforts.
The State Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, Khalid Abdel Rahim, welcomed the launch of the camp, describing it as an important initiative that provides specialized healthcare services to vulnerable and low-income patients. He also praised the dedication of Sudanese doctors throughout the war.
Dr. Mohamed El Sheikh, representing the Sudanese Doctors Association in Qatar, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to expanding medical missions and delivering specialized surgical services across Sudan.
Meanwhile, Dr. Salah Al-Daak, Director of the Qatar Red Crescent Office in Sudan, announced the relocation of the office from Port Sudan to Khartoum, stressing the organization’s continued support through partnerships with the Federal Ministry of Health and state health authorities.
Dr. Abdel Majeed Fadlallah, Executive Director of the Kuwait Patients Helping Fund, stated that this is the fourth medical camp organized by the fund. He called for greater engagement of Sudanese medical professionals abroad in organizing more specialized medical camps and praised the strong partnership with the Qatar Red Crescent and the Federal Ministry of Health.
