Egypt Affirms Readiness to Contribute to Sudan’s Reconstruction After End of War

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, held a telephone conversation today, Monday, with his Sudanese counterpart, Mohi El-Din Salem.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the two ministers affirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and developing cooperation in various fields, based on the strategic nature of historical ties, and in a way that achieves the common interests of both peoples and enhances the existing coordination between Cairo and Khartoum.

Minister Abdel-Aty reiterated Egypt’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions. He stressed the importance of neighboring countries respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and security, and the centrality of the principle of “Sudanese ownership” of the political solution. He also emphasized the importance of ending the current conflict to reach a comprehensive settlement that preserves the country’s stability and fulfills the aspirations of its people.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister also expressed his country’s readiness, through its national companies, to actively contribute to Sudan’s reconstruction efforts as soon as the war ends and security is restored, leveraging the accumulated expertise of Egyptian companies in the fields of construction, building, and infrastructure.

For his part, the Sudanese Foreign Minister expressed his country’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s continued support on various levels, commending Cairo’s firm stances in support of Sudan’s unity and stability.

The Sudanese Minister reviewed the government’s efforts to address current challenges, emphasizing the commitment to continued coordination and consultation with Egypt in the coming phase, and Khartoum’s aspiration for broad Egyptian participation in reconstruction and development programs.
