West Darfur Governor Reaffirms Support for Students Welfare Fund Amid Reconstruction Efforts

The Governor of West Darfur State, Lt. Gen. Bahr El-Din Adam Karama, received in his office in Khartoum Issa Abd El-Shakur Adam, Secretary-General of the Students Welfare Fund in West Darfur State.
The Governor was briefed on the extensive destruction and damage that affected the Fund’s premises as a result of attacks by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, which also led to the martyrdom of a number of staff members.
He was also informed about the role of the General Secretariat and the Workers’ Union branch in supporting and caring for the families of the martyrs.
In addition, he was briefed on the services provided to students of El Geneina University at the Adré center in Chad, as well as ongoing coordination with the university administration and the Students Welfare Fund in Khartoum State to provide accommodation for El Geneina University students in the coming days.
The Governor affirmed the pioneering role of the Fund and its significant contribution to serving students, in addition to its diligent efforts to stabilize and advance higher education in the state by providing accommodation and student services.
He expressed his approval to complete the procedures related to the development of the Fund and to support the Board of Trustees of the National Students Welfare Fund.
He also affirmed his personal commitment to overseeing the Fund’s projects, and called on the Secretary-General to benefit from international experiences and similar institutions in other countries that provide student services, while strengthening educational values within its programs.
He noted that members of his government will fully support the Fund and work to improve its performance, develop its services, and activate its community role.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Students Welfare Fund in West Darfur thanked the Governor of West Darfur, Lt. Gen. Bahr El-Din Adam Karama, for his positive stance toward the Fund.
