The Higher Council for Environment Explains the Reason for High Temperatures in Khartoum

The Higher Council for the Environment in Khartoum State confirmed that the removal of vegetation cover and encroachment on forests and trees are among the most prominent reasons that have contributed to the noticeable rise in temperatures that the capital is experiencing during the current summer season.

The Council explained that the decline in0 green spaces has led to an increase in the impact of urban heat islands, which has resulted in higher temperatures and deteriorating environmental conditions. It called for intensifying efforts to plant trees and protect forests and trees to reduce the negative effects of climate change and improve the urban environment.
