Sudan’s Ambassador to Vienna Meets with UNIDO Director General to Discuss Support for Industrial Recovery

Sudan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Magdi Ahmed Mufaddal, met with the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Gerd Müller, to discuss ways to support Sudan’s industrial recovery program.

The Ambassador emphasized the importance of intensifying the organization’s efforts to contribute to the preparation and implementation of industrial recovery programs, building the capacities of national and state institutions, and supporting quick-return projects, particularly in the areas of refrigerated storage for agricultural exports and meat processing. He also discussed preparations for the high-level meeting on industrial recovery programs for Sudan, Syria, and the State of Palestine, scheduled to be held in Cairo in September 2026.

He further called for strengthening international efforts aimed at achieving peace in Sudan, ending the humanitarian crisis, and supporting the link between relief and development to enable returnees from displacement and refuge to resume their economic activities.

For his part, the Director-General of UNIDO expressed his hope that the upcoming meetings would contribute to mobilizing the necessary funding and investments to support industrial recovery programs and achieve practical results that contribute to rebuilding the productive sectors in the targeted countries.
