organized a
lecture on Combating the Dengue Fever Mosquito
Held at the Sudanese House in Cairo
On Sunday, June 21, 2026
The event was supported by the community awareness roadmap, in cooperation with the Medical Attaché at the Sudanese Embassy, and honored by the presence of Dr. Khader Faisal, the Embassy’s Medical Advisor, and under the supervision of Dr. Nasr El-Din Shulgami, Head of the Initiative, with the attendance of a distinguished group of scholars, students, media professionals, interested individuals, and young volunteers.
Presented by Dr. Salem Abdel Rahman Salem, a Sudanese expert with the World Health Organization, formerly with the organization.
Key Outcomes of the Lecture:
1/ Combating the disease requires solidarity from all segments of society (government, citizens, community organizations, the private sector, and the media).
2/ Activating and supporting local health departments to fulfill their professional responsibilities towards the community.
3/ Qualifying and training professional staff and young volunteers in the field of community awareness and control, while ensuring their professional safety.
4/ Activating and establishing community health committees in neighborhoods.
5/ Spreading community awareness to all community groups in schools, universities, clubs, and all community gatherings:
6/ Activating the role of housewives and women in combating disease at the home, street, and neighborhood levels.
7/ The media fulfilling its role and social responsibility in disseminating community awareness through all media outlets, social media platforms, and other media.
8/ Providing and distributing control supplies such as pesticides, spray pumps, spray vehicles, and mosquito nets by the government and charitable organizations within a sustainable strategic program.
9/ Focusing on disease and epidemic monitoring centers, collecting samples, and ensuring regular monitoring by teams within a strategic plan that combines real-time information on the ground with proactive epidemic and disease control measures.
10/ Coordinating with voluntary return committees to raise awareness among returnees on transportation and establishing tents at all border crossings, ports, and airports to provide logistical support to returnees and distribute mosquito nets and all other supportive measures.
11/ Opening opportunities for specialized private sector companies operating under the umbrella of the Cleaning, Pest Control, and Environmental Health Companies Division of the Sudanese Chambers of Commerce Federation, which is part of the Sudanese Employers’ Federation. These companies have a comprehensive protocol in place for this matter.
