European Investment Mission to Strengthen Partnerships with Sudan

The Sudanese Employers’ Federation announced arrangements for a European investment mission to Sudan from September 5 to 11, 2026. The mission will include companies and investors from Europe and Germany, aiming to explore investment opportunities and establish direct partnerships with the Sudanese private sector.

The head of the Sudanese Employers’ Federation delegation, Muhannad Awad Mahmoud Siddiq, explained that the Federation’s delegation participated in a high-level international meeting organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Union of Arab Chambers and several development institutions and donors. The meeting, held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, discussed supporting economic and industrial recovery efforts in Sudan, Syria, and Palestine, with the participation of representatives from governments, the private sector, and Arab and international financial and development institutions.

He noted that the European investment mission was one of the meeting’s key outcomes, emphasizing that the presentation by Magdi Al-Mufaddal was widely praised for its comprehensive overview of the economic situation and recovery opportunities in Sudan.

Muhannad revealed that the Federation’s delegation held meetings with several international partners and officials, including Gerd Müller, where understandings were reached to support economic recovery efforts. UNIDO affirmed its commitment to building a direct partnership with the Sudanese private sector in the coming phase.

The meetings also addressed opportunities for economic and investment cooperation, enhancing the participation of the Sudanese private sector in international initiatives related to economic recovery and industrial development, and establishing direct communication channels with international institutions, donors, and Arab and international chambers of commerce.

The head of the delegation emphasized that the participation contributed to conveying a realistic picture of the Sudanese economy to international institutions and donors, opening new horizons for cooperation and investment partnerships, and strengthening the presence of the Sudanese private sector in international discussions related to economic recovery and reconstruction.

He explained that the outcomes of the meetings would enhance Sudan’s opportunities to attract international investments and partnerships, particularly in the agriculture, mining, food processing, energy, and infrastructure sectors. He noted that the Sudanese private sector possesses the experience and capacity to contribute effectively to recovery and reconstruction efforts, provided the appropriate environment and necessary partnerships are in place.

Muhannad Awad stressed the importance of continued coordination between the Sudanese Employers Federation, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and international partners to ensure that the meeting’s outcomes are translated into practical programs and projects that contribute to supporting the Sudanese economy and achieving sustainable development.
