Cabinet Directs Formation of National Committee to Address Education Issues
The Cabinet held its regular meeting today in Khartoum, chaired by Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris.
During the meeting, the Cabinet listened to a briefing from the Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, regarding his ministry’s efforts to combat diseases in Sudan, including in states where rebel militias are active. The Cabinet was reassured about the availability of medicines in the country and discussed cooperation with international organizations, particularly the World Health Organization, to support the Ministry of Health’s plans to curb the spread of epidemics in Sudan.
The Council also discussed a report on education issues and development requirements in Sudan, presented by the Minister of National Education, Dr. Al-Tohami Al-Zein Hajar. The Minister outlined the Ministry’s arrangements for a conference addressing how to advance education in Sudan through a series of specialized papers and strategic sectors aimed at preparing future generations to lead the country’s economic and social development. He provided a comprehensive explanation of the challenges facing education in Sudan and presented his ministry’s proposed solutions, including addressing the shortage of seating, meeting educational needs, and providing school meals.
In a press statement, the Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, affirmed that the “Government of Hope” is establishing a new approach based on the renaissance of the Sudanese nation and is developing short-, medium-, and long-term plans in which education occupies a prominent place among the Cabinet’s priorities.
The Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism indicated that the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of continuing the work of the committees dedicated to education issues to achieve the desired goals of the “Government of Hope” in the coming period.
The Minister of Culture and Information explained that the Cabinet discussed the issue of delayed salary payments and how to resolve it fundamentally. He emphasized that the government of hope is working around the clock to establish a new developmental approach based on the interests of the Sudanese nation and the advancement of Sudan.
The Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism stated that the Cabinet affirmed its readiness to provide for the educational needs of all states, especially those experiencing conflict at this time.
Al-Eisir said that the Cabinet directed the formation of a national committee to address educational issues comprehensively. He stressed the importance of developing the furniture industry to solve the problem of student seating in all states, restoring the efficiency of printing and publishing institutions to address the textbook shortage, and ensuring the equitable distribution of teachers to maintain the quality of the education system.
