At least 16 killed in militia drone attacks on El Obeid

Local sources in El Obeid, North Kordofan State, reported that at least 16 people were killed and others injured on Thursday during attacks launched by drones belonging to the Rapid Support Forces militia on several neighborhoods in the city.

The attacks were carried out in the early hours of Thursday morning on various locations.

A medical source stated that El Obeid Teaching Hospital received 16 bodies of civilians killed during these attacks.

According to eyewitnesses, the attack targeted the airport neighborhood, the employees’ quarter, and the neighborhoods surrounding the 5th Infantry Division headquarters.

According to witnesses, the first attack occurred at 2:00 AM with two consecutive strikes. The first strike destroyed several residential buildings in the al-Muzaffarin neighborhood, killing a number of civilians. The second strike occurred while civilians were gathering to evacuate the wounded from the site of the first bombing, resulting in further casualties and increasing the number of dead and wounded.
