Al-Burhan Meets with Sudanese Football Association Delegation

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met today with a delegation from the Sudanese Football Association, headed by Dr. Mutasim Jaafar. The meeting addressed the role of sports in establishing stability.

Dr. Mutasim Jaafar stated in a press release that the meeting discussed the significant contributions of sports in supporting the voluntary return of citizens to their areas.

He emphasized the role of athletes in promoting security and stability in Khartoum State, explaining that this sends positive signals both domestically and internationally, and underscores the state’s commitment to youth and sports, particularly football.

The head of the association explained that the meeting also discussed the need to focus on national teams and develop sports infrastructure to facilitate the organization of matches and competitions between clubs.

He explained that Head of the Sovereign Council promised to remove all obstacles facing the sports sector in the country in order to create a conducive and safe environment for national team training camps and to rehabilitate six stadiums in Sudan, which will be achieved during the upcoming 2026-2027 season.

He added that Head of the Sovereign Council promised to continue efforts to utilize all existing infrastructure to enable young people to participate in all types of sports, noting the significant contributions of youth in the Battle of Dignity and acknowledging the great role played by the Sudanese Football Association in supporting the armed forces.
