A Call for Action to End Child Labour and Safeguard Sudan’s Future Generation

The World Day for the Elimination of Child Labor, observed on June 12, 2026, was designated by the International Labor Organization (ILO), a United Nations agency, in 2002. All these efforts are aimed at strengthening child protection frameworks and activating the role of social security in the care, development, and well-being of our children.
The world is witnessing the suffering of children in Sudan, where 71% are at risk. The brutal and barbaric behavior of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has resulted in our children enduring all forms of harm and grave violations since April 15, 2023.

The General Secretariat of the National Council for Child Welfare (NCCW ) appeals to all international institutions and organizations, including United Nations agencies and civil society organizations concerned with children’s rights, to recognize the practice of child labor within armed groups, the RSF militia, and all entities that exploit children in arduous work, artisanal mining, and similar activities. We urge them to work towards ending child labor and to commemorate the World Day for the Elimination of Child Labor.

Therefore, we need profound humanitarian work to understand the living and social conditions of families, as they are the primary umbrella that protects and nurtures children with morals, national pride, and a sense of human belonging.
