The Geological Research Authority Advances GIS Training Phase

The Acting Director General of the Geological Research Authority, Consulting Geologist Omar Osman, emphasized the importance of continuous training and capacity building in developing technical staff and enhancing employees’ efficiency, in order to keep pace with the rapid advancements in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and modern applications used in the fields of geology and mining.
During his address on Sunday at the training course on ArcGIS Pro, organized by the Authority’s Training Department in collaboration with Safety Training Center, he explained that the course targets geologists from various departments within the Authority. This initiative is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at building technical capacity and strengthening employees’ technological skills.
He noted that the training program focuses on improving GIS usage skills and spatial data analysis, which contributes to enhancing the quality of technical work and supporting exploration processes, as well as preparing geological studies with greater accuracy and efficiency.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Authority, Consulting Geologist Mujtaba Ibrahim, confirmed that the selection of training centers is now based on competitive and professional standards, unlike in the past, ensuring the highest quality and maximum benefit from training programs. He praised Safety Training Center for earning the Authority’s trust to implement the course.
He also revealed that, following the completion of the program, the Authority will measure the training impact and evaluate its reflection on employees’ technical performance, as part of its approach to enhancing training efficiency and linking its outcomes to institutional development.
