“Strengthening Health Cooperation between Sudan and Egypt in Geneva”

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met with his counterpart, the Minister of Health and Population of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, on the sidelines of the meetings of the World Health Organization in Geneva. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Hassan Hamid, Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, along with members of the Sudanese delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen health cooperation between Sudan and Egypt, particularly in the areas of medical training, exchange of expertise, and support for health systems in responding to emergencies and epidemics. The discussions also addressed the importance of joint coordination.
The Sudanese Minister of Health affirmed Sudan’s keenness to benefit from Egypt’s experience in developing healthcare services, noting that the coming phase requires strong partnerships with sisterly countries to enhance the capacities of Sudan’s health system.
For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Health welcomed the expansion of cooperation, emphasizing his country’s readiness to provide technical and logistical support to help improve healthcare services in Sudan. He also expressed commitment to supporting Sudan’s health sector in reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts, including health institutions across all states, and to promoting the exchange of expertise.
This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Sudan and Egypt and to develop health cooperation in a way that achieves shared health security and serves the interests of both peoples.
