Minister of Human Resources Inspects Prosthetics Center in Wad Madani and Announces Restoration of Services

Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare,Moatasim Ahmed Saleh, today inspected the Prosthetics and Assistive Devices Center in Wad Madani, accompanied by the Acting Governor of Al Jazirah State, Mortada Ismail Al-Baili, along with a number of leaders from the social welfare, Zakat, and health insurance sectors. The visit comes as part of efforts to rehabilitate mobility disability services in the country.
The delegation conducted a field assessment of the extent of damage and destruction caused to the center following attacks by the Rapid Support Forces militia, which included the destruction of parts of the building and the looting of essential equipment and materials. This led to the suspension of services at the center, which is considered one of the leading prosthetics centers in central Sudan.
During the visit, the Minister of Human Resources affirmed the government’s commitment to restoring the center’s services and resuming operations as soon as possible, stressing the importance of the center in providing prosthetic limbs and assistive devices to injured persons and people with mobility disabilities, especially amid the significant increase in demand due to the impacts of the war.
The visit also highlighted the growing demand for rehabilitation and prosthetic services. Statistics revealed that approximately 2,230 people are currently registered on the waiting list for prosthetic limb manufacturing at the center, including civilians and heroes of the Battle of Dignity who lost limbs during the war.
