King Salman Relief Center Supports Sudan’s Health System Recovery Project

The Federal Ministry of Health today witnessed the launch of the Health Recovery and Reconstruction Project, aimed at rehabilitating the liberated states (Khartoum, Al Jazirah, and Sennar), in addition to supporting major hospitals across all states. The project is a grant from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Federal Ministry of Finance, providing vital hospital departments in different states with medical equipment and supplies.
Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim affirmed that the “Towards Health Recovery and Reconstruction” project represents a very important step toward recovery. He explained that the project embodies a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Finance, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and the Federal Ministry of Health. He praised the center’s continuous support during the years of war through medical supplies, treatment convoys, medicines, equipment, machinery, and more.
He also pointed out that the Ministry of Finance has remained a strong supporter of the health sector, contributing to filling emergency budget gaps despite difficult economic conditions, noting that its contribution to this project amounts to $13 million.
For his part, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim Ali, commended the performance of the Federal Ministry of Health, stating that it achieved significant accomplishments during the war and describing them as “miracles” that will be recorded in history.
He praised the “white army” (medical staff), emphasizing their sacrifices and resilience under the most difficult conditions, which enabled the health sector to carry the country through the crisis. He also stressed the importance of prevention and health awareness.
The Minister of Federal Governance and Rural Development, Dr. Mohamed Kartakoyla, praised the major efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health in delivering diverse services across various sectors, confirming that support has reached all states, including those affected by the war.
The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Babiker, stated that the health sector lost large quantities of medicines and medical consumables during the war. However, health workers remained steadfast and prevailed despite limited resources. He also indicated that the distribution of medical supplies was carried out fairly across all states, including those most affected by the war.
