Federal Minister of Health Receives Indian Foreign Ministry Delegation and Commends Their Support to the Health Sector

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, praised the evolving Sudanese–Indian relations, emphasizing the special nature of cooperation between the two countries in the health sector. This came following his meeting at his office in Port Sudan with a visiting delegation from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

The Minister highlighted the significant support provided by India to Sudan during the war period, noting in particular the prosthetics camp that benefited around 600 individuals, in addition to continued support through the provision of medicines and medical consumables.
The meeting discussed expanding the partnership by creating training opportunities for Sudanese medical personnel in India, especially in highly specialized fields such as organ transplantation. It also addressed activating medical tourism between the two countries and offering treatment grants for Sudanese patients.
He added that the meeting resulted in an agreement to continue working on prosthetics camps and contribute to localizing such services within Sudan. The discussions also covered strengthening pharmaceutical cooperation, particularly in manufacturing, and supporting the mechanisms of the National Medicines and Poisons Board. A joint agreement is expected to be signed in the near future.
