AcoGaps Launches “Influential Media Presence” Course to Counter Rumors and Promote Professional Discourse
The African Center for Governance, Peace, and Transition Studies (AcoGaps ) inaugurated a specialized training course entitled “Influential Media Presence on Satellite Channels.”
The course targeted members of institutions and civil society organizations, as part of the Center’s programs aimed at enhancing media capabilities and addressing the challenges of the current phase.
The opening session witnessed broad participation from political, military, academic, and media leaders, most notably Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, a leader of the Democratic Bloc and official spokesperson for the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement; Major General Ali Mukhtar, Commander of the Joint Forces in Khartoum; General Siddiq Banqo, Acting Chairman of the Security Arrangements Committee; Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Abkar, Secretary of Information and official spokesperson for the Revolutionary Awakening Council; and Dr. Jamila Al-Jamiabi, Associate Professor at Nilein University, in addition to a number of other figures interested in media, transformation, and peace issues.
The training content is presented by Professor Abdul-Baqi Al-Awad, a media expert, and other experts.
Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abidine, Director of AcoGaps, confirmed that the course comes within the framework of the Center’s ongoing efforts to build the capacities of national personnel and qualify official spokespeople and representatives of institutions to deal professionally with various media outlets, in accordance with the editorial policies of media channels and platforms.
He added that the training focuses on skills for effective television appearances, managing media messages, and handling interviews and live dialogues, which contributes to enhancing the effective media presence of institutions and individuals, and enables them to successfully convey their messages to the public professionally.
Dr. Mahmoud announced the Center’s readiness to organize more training courses, programs, and specialized studies that keep pace with the requirements of the current stage in the fields of governance, peace, transformation, and media, stressing that building media awareness has become a national necessity in light of the rapidly evolving challenges facing the country.
For their part, the speakers praised the great role that the center has played for years in the fields of training, qualification and preparation of studies related to governance, peace and transformation, stressing the importance of the “Influential Media Appearance” course in reducing the spread of rumors and fake news and confronting the work of misleading media rooms, by presenting a professional and responsible media discourse that enhances awareness and social stability.
