Statement of the General Secretariat of the (NCCW) on the anniversary of April 15, 2023
Everyone knows that our children in the country have suffered from the woes of the war led by a gang of rebel rapid support forces, where our children and their families faced brutal behavior—cancellation, asylum, and displacement. Neutrality has since April 15, 2023, become an exotic ethic for Sudanese families and local Sudanese society. The mandates under which militia forces have practiced all kinds of grave and radical violations have resulted in the displacement and killing of children, with their militia ranks becoming an educational platform for fighting and resistance and the use of weapons.
Meanwhile, our armed forces, joint forces, and resistance groups are committed to protecting children and preserving their legal, social, and positive rights in all mandates of our dear country, which is comprised of all safe states controlled by the Government of Sudan, as well as all international partners and civil society organizations.
The General Secretariat of the Council and those interested in child affairs in our country and the world stated that this militia has violated and undermined the law, becoming an adversary of the rights established by the United Nations in 1989, which was ratified by Sudan and has become part of its legislation. This militia and its agents have violated the Children’s Law of 2010 and national laws, thus infringing upon human rights, both general and specific to children.
The terrorist militia has exhibited unprecedented behavior against children, turning schools, centers, hospitals, and homes into headquarters for military action and training, displaying the most vulnerable behavior towards children and their families. 2,250,000 children have also been sold in all states under the imposition of its brutal military powers. The number of educational disruptions affecting children is increasing. In addition to detention and kidnapping, the closure of crossings has hindered the delivery of food and medicine in those states and territories, as they have been involved in widespread rape and other forbidden humanitarian and legal and international harassment.
The General Secretariat of the NCCW for all regional and international human rights is concerned with human rights in general and the rights of children, especially those of children in Sudan, who have suffered and continue to suffer from war and the brutal conflict caused by terrorist militias, specifically the Rapid Support Forces. This statement is a reminder of the events of April 15, 2023.
