National Training of Trainers: Meningitis, Dengue, and Cholera Case Management Workshop

The Federal Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Khartoum State Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), has concluded a training program for healthcare personnel from hospitals in Khartoum and Gezira State. The training was held at the Academic Center of Omdurman Hospital and Al Dayat Hospital in Omdurman. It focused on standard case management and sample collection for meningitis, dengue fever, and cholera (National Training of Trainers Workshop on Case Management of Meningitis, Dengue Fever, and Cholera).

The training program covered dengue fever on the first day, cholera on the second day, and meningitis on the third day. The fourth day, Friday, was dedicated to the practical component on meningitis at Al Dayat Hospital and Omdurman Hospital.

This included identifying the signs and symptoms of meningitis, managing seizures in both adults and children, and hands-on training on proper sample collection, preservation, transportation, and storage under standard conditions, including sterilization and the use of protective equipment. The same training course is scheduled to be conducted next week in Dongola, Northern State, targeting trainees from the Northern and River Nile states.
