Launch of the National Dengue Fever Control Campaign in Atbara Locality

The Atbara locality in River Nile State witnessed the launch of the national dengue fever control campaign in the presence of the Federal Minister of Health, Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim. He affirmed that this step comes as a continuation of previous visits to health institutions in the state, praising the noticeable development in the health sector.

He explained that public health is a shared responsibility, calling on the community to participate in control efforts by eliminating stagnant water twice a week. He also confirmed the provision of necessary supplies and pointed to the support of the country’s leadership for the health sector through the provision of spraying vehicles.
He stressed the importance of implementing the campaign across four localities in the state. For his part, the Minister of Health of River Nile State, Mustafa Al-Sharif, commended the “white army” (health workers), appreciating the efforts of Atbara locality in maintaining a dengue-free status.

He noted that the campaign started in Shendi and then Atbara and will continue in Al-Damer, with aerial spraying operations set to begin, emphasizing that “with drying, the fever stops.”

The Executive Director of Atbara locality also stated that a high-level committee has been formed for supervision and close monitoring, along with subcommittees at the locality level. He affirmed the locality’s commitment to making Atbara free of dengue fever through routine vector control efforts.
