Higher Committee for the Preparation of the Global Fund Grant holds its first meeting

The first meeting of the Higher Committee for the Preparation of the Global Fund Grant (Eighth Session) was held today at the office of the Federal Minister of Health, Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim.

The Minister said that the committee will hold its first meeting in the presence of a number of its members from the Ministry’s departments and representatives of the Ministries of Finance and the Federal Government, as well as ambassadors to a number of other international organizations, the National Laboratory for Public Health, Health Insurance, and the General Directorate of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control. The meeting began with the reading of Ministerial Decision No. 31 on the formation of the committee, which is headed by the Minister, with the Undersecretary serving as the alternate chairman, and includes members from several departments in the Ministry, the Global Fund, and international organizations, in addition to the National Fund for Supply, Health Insurance, and the Ministries of Finance and Government The Federal Party.

He stressed that the grant is one of the largest grants supporting the Ministry, amounting to $139 million, adding that “the amount is allocated to AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, in addition to strengthening the health system. “This is the result of the efforts of the Ministry and partners.” he said.

The Minister emphasized that one of the tasks and competencies of the committee is to generally supervise the writing of the grant, with the help of whoever it deems appropriate. He thanked the global Fund and all those who made efforts despite the circumstances and conditions in the world, pointing to the formation of technical committees and praising the presentation of the national expert Dr. Tariq Abdullah. He acknowledged the existence of opportunities for funding, especially after Sudan’s exit from the war and the potential to benefit from the available funding.
