Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council issued sovereign decrees and military directives to restructure the leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces, in accordance with the requirements of the current phase and based on the Armed Forces Law. The decrees included the following:

First: The appointment of Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabbashi Ibrahim as Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces.

Second: The appointed Commander-in-Chief shall assume his duties immediately upon the issuance of this decree, to oversee the implementation of strategic plans and the development of operational and administrative performance across all units and formations of the Armed Forces.

Third: This step comes within the framework of routine renewal and the infusion of new blood into the military leadership, ensuring the strengthening of defense capabilities and the protection of the nation’s security, stability, and the resources of its people.

Fourth: Head of the Sovereignty Council expresses his gratitude and appreciation to the previous commanders for their sincere efforts and dedication in serving the country during the past period. These decisions are effective as of today, Friday, April 3, 2026.
