Energy Ministry: International cooperation contributes to the advancement of the energy sector in Sudan

Minister of Energy, Engineer Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed Ali, emphasized the importance of international cooperation strategies in revitalizing the energy sector, enabling Sudan to diversify its energy sources, promoting sustainable development, and exchanging technology and expertise, thus contributing to the advancement of the national economy. This came during his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Muhi Al-Din Salem. The meeting discussed ways to develop international cooperation in Sudan’s energy sector. The Minister of Energy addressed the understandings reached with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding fuel supply, with the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding electricity supply and refineries, and with the State of Libya regarding fuel supply through the Sahel and Sahara Bank. He revealed that he had received an invitation from his Libyan counterpart, the Minister of Energy. The Minister of Energy also reviewed cooperation agreements with the State of Belarus in the areas of electricity, agricultural inputs, and the exchange of expertise, in addition to strengthening cooperation with international organizations concerned with the energy sector. The meeting also explored opportunities to enhance regional cooperation in the areas of electricity interconnection and renewable energy projects, the necessity of activating regional cooperation mechanisms, and leveraging international capabilities and expertise.
