Al-Burhan Offers Condolences on the Death of Khalifa Al-Tayeb Al-Jid in Umm Duwan Ban

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, offered his condolences on the death of the late Khalifa Sheikh Al-Tayeb Al-Jid, successor of Sheikh Wad Badar, at the Umm Dawan Ban mosque. He passed away after a brief illness.

Head of the Sovereignty Council was accompanied by the Director of Military Intelligence, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Sabir.

Al-Burhan praised the pioneering role the deceased played in spreading the Islamic faith and consolidating the values ​​of piety, Sufism, and asceticism, emphasizing that he was a towering beacon of knowledge and a prominent figure in Islamic Sufism in Sudan.

Al-Burhan said, “We offer our condolences to the Sudanese people on this great loss,” recalling the deceased’s noble character, his pleasant company, and his good treatment of others, describing his mosque as “a house of mercy, compassion, and the dissemination of virtue.”

Al-Burhan noted that the late Sheikh always strived to unite the people of Sudan and bring them together, expressing his hope that the Sudanese would unite on the path of righteousness that the Sheikh followed.

He also addressed attempts by some to accuse Sufi orders of “extremism,” affirming the innocence of Sufism in this regard, explaining that their call is based on religion, compassion, mutual support, the pursuit of knowledge, the rejection of all that is wrong, and that their approach is free from any extremism or fanaticism.
