Agar Addresses Day of Gratitude to Humanitarian Organizations

Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander Malik Agar, affirmed the Sudanese government’s appreciation and gratitude for the significant efforts and valuable contributions made by humanitarian organizations in delivering services and aid to the Sudanese people during the war.

Speaking yesterday in Port Sudan at the Day of Gratitude for the Sudanese Popular Initiative to thank international and regional voluntary organizations and Sudanese national initiatives, organized by the League of Peoples in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Port Sudan, he added that Sudan is keen to support and strengthen the relationship between the relevant authorities and organizations to help these organizations fulfill their roles and accomplish their tasks in accordance with the laws and charters that call for respecting Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.

Agar emphasized that the Berlin Conference scheduled to be held in Germany this month is against the wishes and aspirations of the Sudanese people, noting that Sudanese problems and solutions are determined by the Sudanese themselves.

Aqar called for the neutrality of humanitarian work, based on respect for Sudan’s sovereignty and dignity. He pointed out that foreign interference in the Sudanese war hinders the delivery of aid and declared the Sudanese people’s rejection of solutions imposed from abroad, emphasizing that it is a Sudanese war that must be resolved by solutions originating from the Sudanese people themselves.

Regarding the Abyei issue, he explained that Presidents Al-Burhan and Kiir would work to resolve the Abyei problem.

The celebration was addressed by Ambassador Mohamed Ma’al-Aynayn, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Sudan, who affirmed the diplomatic corps’ support for strengthening relations with Sudan.

Also addressing the celebration was Major General (Rtd) Omar Nimir, President of the League of Peoples and Head of the Sudanese Popular Initiative to Thank International Voluntary Organizations and National Initiatives. He expressed his gratitude to all the organizations and countries that assisted Sudan in providing humanitarian aid during the war.
