A delegation of the Child Welfare Council in Gedaref State inspects the situation of children in the mining areas

The delegation of the Child Welfare Council in the Gedaref State , headed by Tawhida Zaki El-Din, the Secretary of the Council, visited the locality of Qalaa Al-Nahl against the background of a video circulating on social media that showed the abuse of a minor child.
The visit aimed to find out the circumstances of the incident on the ground and to learn about the situation of children in the mining areas, in addition to strengthening coordination with local authorities to take the necessary measures and activate protection mechanisms.
During the delegation’s meeting with the Executive Director of the locality, in the presence of the security and police agencies and the Director of Social Welfare, the delegation stressed the importance of dealing decisively with such issues, emphasizing the need to prevent child labor and intensify community awareness programs to protect children
their rights and ensure a safe environment for them.
The Executive Director of the Bee Harvesting Municipality, Hafez Al-Badawi Hamad, stressed that the security and safety of children are a top priority, praising the role of the security and social welfare agencies in containing the incident. He emphasized the importance of joining official and community efforts to reduce the phenomenon of child labor.
The Director of the Local Police, Lieutenant Colonel Adel Khamis, revealed that immediate legal measures have been taken, including the arrest and detention of the accused. He stressed the seriousness of the security agencies in addressing such cases and called for the activation of the professional card system within the mining areas to regulate the work environment and limit excesses.
