A delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) inspected the situation of the NMSF

In a visit reflecting the international community’s interest in supporting the health sector in Sudan, the National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF) received a high-level delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at its headquarters in Khartoum to assess the extent of the damage caused to the institution as a result of the war and to review the efforts made to rehabilitate it and restore its vital activity.

The visiting delegation included the Resident Representative of the Program, Mr. Luca, along with Mona Shalita, the Supply Officer of the Program. They were received by the Director General of the Fund, Dr. Badreddine Mohamed Ahmed Al-Jazouli, in the presence of the Directors of the General Departments and a number of executive leaders.

The Director General provided a comprehensive briefing in which he reviewed the current situation of the Fund following the destruction of its infrastructure, indicating the extent of the challenges faced by the pharmaceutical supply system during the past period.

The UNDP delegation praised the efforts made by the Fund’s management, appreciating its ability to resume work from inside Khartoum in a short period of time and to restart the pharmaceutical supply system to ensure the stability of health services in various states. The head of the delegation affirmed the commitment of the program to continue its technical and logistical support to the Fund.

He explained that the areas of support would include strengthening the fleet of distribution vehicles and developing storage and transportation capacities, which would contribute to improving the efficiency of the delivery of medicines and medical consumables to health facilities, especially in the peripheral areas, and ensuring that they reach the lowest levels of service delivery.
