Renewed Spirit A Season of Joy

By: Ethar Abdelhamid
Sudan despite its hardships is a homeland whose spirit never fades Its people are inherently noble and generous They do not perform kindness nor do they wait for something in return
In the darkest moments when the sound of artillery thundered and bullets filled the air the values of solidarity did not decline and compassion did not disappear Instead community kitchens emerged as luminous symbols of humanity tested under the harshest conditions Hands extended freely Bread was shared with love Water was poured gently into fearful hearts
Giving was not a luxury It was a moral necessity Altruism was not a passing reaction It was a conscious and deliberate stance
There in the heart of darkness Sudanese people wrote lines of light They affirmed that authenticity is not a slogan raised but a value lived That generosity is not surplus beyond need but partnership in pain Every mat was laid out without hesitation as if the earth itself bore witness that when this people are tested they grow purer
At the height of fear and hardship values did not retreat They rose above the sound of gunfire to declare that human beings can choose mercy even when surrounded by cruelty They can create a small space of safety in the heart of a storm
Ramadan in Sudan is not merely a time of fasting It is a season of restoring meaning where worship intersects with responsibility where prayer blends with action and where iftar tables become silent messages that society is one body If one part suffers the rest respond with care and vigilance
A people who know how to give in times of scarcity will surely know how to rise in times of abundance
Sudan God willing will return stronger than before It will emerge from the depth of its wounds into horizons of light Nations that safeguard their values in times of fracture deserve to flourish in times of recovery
Sudan endures with an unbreakable spirit renewing its covenant with every renewal of the soul
In conclusion
The trending phrase Just as every year we used to long for you this time you longed for us carries deep emotion and loyalty It reverses the balance of anticipation After years of waiting for the crescent moon to brighten our days this year it felt as though the crescent was waiting for the return of stability and for hearts to find their way home
We returned to our neighborhoods to our khalwas to our prayers and to our woven mats adorned with hope
Ramadan this year is not merely a month that passes through our calendar It is a homeland within time reaffirming our constants and rearranging our inner meanings before it rearranges our days
