Khartoum Governor Commends NSWF’s Performance, Affirms His Support for Reconstruction Efforts

Khartoum Governor, Ahmed Osman Hamza, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Students Welfare Fund (NSWF) in the state, commended the Fund’s outstanding performance and the dedication of its staff during the challenging period the country is experiencing. He affirmed his unwavering support for the Fund to enable it to fulfill its mission towards students.

This came during his meeting today at his residence with the Fund’s Secretary in the state, Ahmed Kaltous, following their Ramadan breakfast. The Governor praised the efforts of the Secretary-General of the NSWF, Dr. Ahmed Hamza, and the Fund’s leadership in the state, noting that the Fund is among the first institutions to have been established and to have commenced its operations from within Khartoum State. He pointed out that the Fund has already begun reconstruction efforts in residential complexes despite the ongoing war.

For his part, Ahmed Kaltous provided the Governor with a comprehensive overview of the Fund’s operations, explaining that it currently oversees the provision of breakfast services to 3,000 female students distributed across three residential centers in the state. Regarding the reconstruction efforts, Kaltous revealed that work is ongoing on three residential buildings currently being prepared for opening immediately after Eid al-Fitr.

He expressed his gratitude to the partners in this success, praising the significant role played by the State Humanitarian Aid Commission in overcoming all obstacles, alongside international and national organizations and the Zakat Chamber.

Kaltous also extended special thanks to the electricity departments in Khartoum North, Omdurman, and Khartoum sectors for their efforts in providing electrical transformers for the residential complexes, noting the need for four additional transformers to complete the electrical connection.

In an immediate response, the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, pledged to provide the remaining transformers and contribute to addressing the deficiencies, emphasizing that the state places the stability of students and the rehabilitation of dormitories among its top priorities in the post-war phase.
