Qatar Reaffirms Support for Sudanese Unity, Calls for an Immediate End to the War

The State of Qatar reiterated its firm and unwavering support for the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, affirming its rejection of any interference in its internal affairs and its support for the Sudanese people’s right to live in security and stability. It expressed its deep concern regarding the continuation of the war and the resulting heavy human losses, widespread displacement, and extensive destruction of infrastructure.

This came in a statement delivered by Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid Al Thani, Second Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar in Geneva, during the enhanced interactive dialogue on Sudan within the framework of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council.

The statement emphasized that the Sudanese people can no longer endure further delays, stressing the urgent need for action to stop the war through a comprehensive dialogue leading to an agreement that restores security and stability and spares the country further destruction and division.

He noted Qatar’s continued efforts to provide humanitarian support since the outbreak of the crisis, explaining that on February 9th, a medical aid convoy from the Qatar Fund for Development, in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent, was dispatched to provide emergency and life-saving medicines, with additional shipments to follow, benefiting approximately half a million people in 12 Sudanese states.

The State of Qatar called on the international community to intensify its efforts and ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected.
