NSWF Commends Turkish Support, Affirms: Dormitories’ Stability is Part of the Battle for Dignity

The Secretary-General of the National Students Welfare Fund NSWF), Dr. Ahmed Hamza Al-Amin, praised the significant role played by Turkish institutions in supporting students in Sudan. He commended the stances of the Turkish government and people, especially President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in supporting Sudan during its crisis. This came during his address at the Ramadan Iftar organized by the Turkish Religious Foundation through the Al-Ithar Charitable Organization at the Martyr Ali Abdel Fattah Girls’ City, in the presence of several department directors from the General Secretariat, the Fund’s Secretary for Khartoum State, and members of its executive office.

The Secretary-General affirmed that the dormitories have returned to better condition than before, expressing his pride in the students’ presence and their academic stability. He stated that their presence is an integral part of the struggle for dignity and reflects a model of resilience and defiance. He also commended the Turkish Religious Foundation for its humanitarian and service-oriented support to Sudanese students, emphasizing that Turkish organizations provide their support without expectation of reward or recognition, which distinguishes them from other foreign organizations.

The representative of the Turkish Religious Endowment, Ahmed Hilal, explained that the endowment’s convoys depart from Ankara, aiming to feed the needy, instill hope, and bring smiles to faces. He noted that the endowment’s projects in Sudan include distributing 6,000 food baskets, organizing iftar meals for 10,000 fasting individuals, and providing Eid clothing as a gift from the Turkish people to the Sudanese people. Hilal also revealed the educational scholarship programs offered by the endowment, which cover students at various levels, from primary and secondary education to postgraduate studies. These scholarships include round-trip travel expenses, accommodation, living expenses, and tuition fees. He emphasized that admission is based on academic excellence and percentage. He urged female students to strive for academic excellence and play their part in the country’s development, in honor of the martyrs’ sacrifices, stressing that Sudan needs the efforts of its sons and daughters for reconstruction.

For his part, Ismail Jalal, Director of the Kamil Al-Baqir Complex and representative of the Treasurer of Khartoum State, expressed his delight at this initiative, thanking the Turkish Religious Foundation and the Al-Ithar Charity Organization. He stated that the Martyr Ali Abdel Fattah Complex houses female students from war-affected states, whose families continue to suffer its repercussions. He commended the Turkish support, particularly in the academic field, citing the President Erdoğan dormitory in Bahri as a prime example, and expressed his hope for further contributions to the reconstruction of dormitories.

Khalil Omar, Director General of the Al-Ithar Charity Organization, welcomed the delegation from the Turkish Religious Foundation, praising their efforts to reach out to the students and share Iftar with them in an environment of learning and knowledge. He emphasized that such initiatives strengthen the spirit of solidarity and support the stability of the educational process, praying for the Turkish entities to receive further reward for their contributions.

At the conclusion of the event, the Turkish Religious Foundation and the Al-Ithar Charity Organization were honored by the Fund in recognition of their efforts in supporting students and enhancing Ramadan activities in the dormitories.
