My impression of Halfa, that green city

There are different reasons for travel. .For me, last week, I went to New Halfa to attend the wedding ceremony of my cousin,. His name is Huzayfa Othman Haraka. He’s the owner of famous “Akhbar Al-Youm” news-stall. . In Halfa. For decades, people used to buy daily newspapers from his book-store.
As I got on the bus, the driver was from the Halfawi people. He spoke a mix of Sudanese colloquial Arabic with a distinct Halfawi accent, such as feminizing masculine nouns. As we started moving, he told his conductor :”, “Close the door (using a feminine form).” You can sense their humor and wit. In government offices, they are renowned as unique administrators—professional, strict in implementing regulations, and widely recognized for their attested efficiency, competency, professionalism, good humor, and purity of heart.
As it is well known, the residents of old Halfa in North Sudan near Egypt were displaced from their lost city as result of constructing Egyptian High Dam during the Abboud regime. They were subsequently provided with nice and grand houses and farms were allocated for each village. Most inhabitants of these villages are indigenous Halfawi Nubians.. IWhen I arrived at New Halfa in East Sudan,, I noticed a sign that read “Dar Al-Kiyan Al-Nubi” (House of the Nubian Entity). There are also many other ethnic entities.
I stopped on the way to ask one of the young Halfawi men about where the popular Sudanese late preacher Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Haj was born. He pointed at the building of Al-Tabari School, .” He studied here ” He said l. Then he added ” His family used to live in Village 12 before moving to Khartoum.” .
Halfa City has many things for vsitors to see including the beautiful villages that stretch along the paved road from , the Halfa village intersection all the way to the popular market, which serves as the city’s bustling heart.
The wonder of Halfa is l being a small Sudan: a blend of diverse ethnicities and tribes . The Halfa market is thriving with lively commercial activity, and vegetables that are affordable for instance sack filled with tomatoes referred to as “Barcelona” is sold only for only two thousand. pounds. Water supply is also stable around the clock
Finally, I returned to Gedaref. I enjoyed my stay in New Halfa , It was a nice opportunity to see new places and to meet lots of our relatives who live in Kassala, but came to celebrate the marriage of my cousin Huzayfa. .It was wonderful. May God bless him and his new famiily.
